To Moderate or Nah

I’m a big proponent of the idea “everything in moderation” (sometimes including moderation). I cannot live within strict rules. I don’t like to have to follow strict guidelines. I really like to just float. I know I’ll achieve what I set out to achieve if I don’t, like, put pressure on it. I also know that not everyone is like me. Some people NEED exact guidelines and lines to stay in between.

My philosophy on fitness and most things is the same philosophy I have for life: you have to find what works for you. Through introspection and overall just paying attention, you have to be able to look at what has done you well and what hasn’t. For many people, harsh restrictions on food and exercise are too much. Going weeks without a treat for themselves leaves them feeling drained and miserable. Do you struggle within harsh confines? You might be a moderation person.

On the other hand, many people see the world in black and white. They need exact guidelines laid out for them and for their nutrition plan. Not having a plan can result in binges which can result in quitting your journey to your goals. If this sounds like you, you may not be a moderation person.

There is something out there that works for everyone. What works for you may not work for someone else. And that’s good! We’re all different for a reason. Which kind of person are you?
